Worcester, MA- The Lancer's Field Hockey team remains on the hunt this afternoon for their first win as they head down Rt. 9 to take on the WPI Engineers in the Worcester Battle.

How it Happened:

The Lancers showed grit and resilience in their matchup with WPI, battling through early pressure before settling into their rhythm. After the Engineers struck quickly with three first-quarter goals off corners, Worcester locked down defensively in the second quarter. The Lancers denied WPI any further scoring while creating two opportunities of their own to carry a 3-0 score into the half.

Coming out of the break, Worcester continued to fight despite WPI converting on a pair of corners early in the third quarter and later adding one more. Refusing to back down, the Lancers surged late with a strong push on the attack, challenging the Engineers' back line and forcing them to defend until the final whistle.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lizzy Macdonald (Medford, MA) anchored the defense, facing 11 shots and turning away five saves in a determined effort.

The Blue and Gold (0-5, 0-0) are back in action on Saturday to kick off their conference schedule with a meeting with Westfield State at 11am.
