How It Happened
The opening quarter was evenly played, with both teams generating chances. Wheaton broke through late in the frame, converting a penalty stroke with a well-placed lift. The Lyons extended their lead midway through the second quarter, finishing off a penalty corner with a quick shot from the top. Sophomore Emily Curran (Fall River, MA) came up with a key save on another corner attempt, helping Worcester stay within two at halftime.
The third quarter mirrored the start of the game as both teams created opportunities but were denied by strong defensive play. Wheaton sealed the result early in the fourth, scoring off a break down the sideline and a cross into the circle to make it 3-0. Despite building late momentum, Worcester was unable to capitalize on its attacking chances.
