How It Happened
Clark struck first just over five minutes into the opening quarter to set the tone. Worcester State pushed forward in response but was unable to find the equalizer before halftime, as the Cougars carried a 1–0 lead into the break.
The third quarter proved decisive, with Clark breaking the game open. The Cougars converted on a rebound to double their lead, then added a breakaway finish and a goal off a penalty corner in quick succession. A penalty stroke capped off the four-goal frame, putting Worcester in a 5–0 hole.
The Lancers tightened defensively in the fourth, holding Clark scoreless over the final 15 minutes to close out the contest.
Sophomore Lizzy MacDonald (Medford, MA) made six saves in her first start of the season, while sophomore Christine Longey (West Springfield, MA) registered a defensive save.
What's Next
Worcester State (0–1, 0–0 MASCAC) returns home on Tuesday, September 2, for its home opener under the lights against Wheaton College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
