Last Second Strike Sends Framingham State Past Worcester State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.- Framingham State University senior Samantha Pajer (Leicester, Mass.) scored the game winning goal with thirteen seconds remaining in regulation to send the Rams to victory over Worcester State in Little East Conference action Tuesday evening in Framingham.

With the victory the Rams improve to 3-11 and are now 2-7 in conference play. The Lancers fall to 9-6 and are now 5-4 in the league.

The two teams played to a scoreless first stanza even though the Lancers controlled the tempo, taking 13 shots to the Rams 1 and attempting 10 penalty corners in the half. The best chance to score for the Lancers came after the clock expired. Worcester was granted a corner and played the ball in the zone, after a shot, save and a scramble in front of the net the Rams defense was able to clear the ball to end the half.

The Lancers opened up scoring in the 49^th minute when Erika Lepkowski (Baldwinville, Mass.) scored on a onetime shot from teammate Catherine Clark (Worcester, Mass.).

The Rams knotted the score just over five minutes later when senior Cady Kelly (Canton, Mass.) scored when a through ball was sent from Amie Souza (Taunton, Mass.).

With time winding down in regulation the Rams were granted a corner. Pajer sent the ball into the zone and then proceeded to gather the ball off a Lancer defenders stick and send it home for the game-winner.

Alexandra Ricco (Agawam, Mass.) made 13 saves for the Rams while Kathryn Salemme (Boxboro, Mass.) made 3 saves for Worcester State.

The Rams return to action when they travel to Lasell for non-conference action on Thursday, October 22^nd. The Lancers travel to Southern Maine for LEC action on Saturday, October 24^th.
