Three Named to Baseball MASCAC All Conference Team
Westfield, Mass. — Nate Kaczynski of Mass. Maritime and Nolan Currier of Salem State have been named the 2026 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year and headline the 2026 MASCAC All Conference team as voted by the coaches from around the league.
Westfield, Mass. — Nate Kaczynski of Mass. Maritime and Nolan Currier of Salem State have been named the 2026 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year and headline the 2026 MASCAC All Conference team as voted by the coaches from around the league.
Kaczynski, a sophomore from Westlake Village, Calif., made an immediate impact in his first season with the Buccaneers. He led the MASCAC in batting average at .480, slugging percentage at .764 and on-base percentage at .566. Over his 37 games, he collected 61 hits, eight doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 33 RBI, 41 runs scored, 23 walks and four stolen bases. His batting average is currently fifth in DIII. Three times this season, Kaczynski earned Player of the Week honors, most recently he batted .600 (12-20) with three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, nine runs scored, four walks, 1.050 slugging and .680 on-base percentage in a 5-1 week for the Bucs.
Taking home 2026 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year honors is Currier, a junior from Maynard, Mass. Currier ended the regular season first in the MASCAC with a 1.02 ERA, second with six wins, a .95 WHIP, only allowing five earned runs, 49 strikeouts and four game without a single earned run. His ERA is currently second best in DIII so far this season. Twice this season, Currier earned Pitcher of the Week honors, including the week of 4/21 when he threw a complete game seven inning shutout, only allowing two hits, with 11 strikeouts one walk, a 0.00 ERA and .43 WHIP in the Vikings' 3-0 win over the AMCATS.
In his first season with the Bucs, Aidan McCarthy was named the 2026 MASCAC Baseball Rookie of the Year. The freshman from Quincy, Mass., batted .364 with a .529 on-base and .455 slugging percentage. He collected 28 hits with four doubles, a hhome run, 25 RBI, 17 runs, 24 walks and four stolen bases. He batted 1.000 in two conference wins this season, including a 2-for-2 with two RBI and two walks in the win over Salem State.
After guiding the Bears to a 21-3 record and top seed in the tournament, Greg Zackrison of Bridgewater State and after leading the Vikings to a 16-8 mark and the second seed, Andrew Gummow of Salem State were voted the 2026 BSN Sports Co-Coach of the Year as selected by their peers.
Grabbing a spot on the MASCAC First Team All-Conference along with Kaczynski and Currier are Owen Sullivan of Anna Maria, Ryan Flaherty, Matt Kustigian, Rylan Secovich, Joshua Selander and Trey Yeso of Bridgewater State, Joseph Abt and Tyler Fonck of Fitchburg State, John Lynch of Framingham State, Colsen Loughren of Mass. Maritime, Sam Palmer of Westfield State and Kevin Doyle of Worcester State.
Earning a spot on the MASCAC second team are Jesse Buonocoreand Christopher Reardon of Anna Maria, DJ Prampin and Benjamin Sepeck of Bridgewater State, Christian Cox of Framingham State, Jake Duffy and Damon White of Mass. Maritime, Jack Doyle, Yabdriel Gonzalez and Ethan Stepputtis of Salem State, Andre Phaneuf and Chase Racine of Westfield State and Alan Carpenter and Gavin Price of Worcester State.
