Lancers Finish Second in MASSCAC Preseason Baseball Coaches Poll
Worcester, MA- After finishing last season 23-14, ultimately falling to Salem State in the MASCAC Tournament, the Lancers were tabbed to finish second in the MASCAC Preseason coaches’ poll as voted on by the conference coaches.
Worcester, MA- After finishing last season 23-14, ultimately falling to Salem State in the MASCAC Tournament, the Lancers were tabbed to finish second in the MASCAC Preseason coaches' poll as voted on by the conference coaches.
Bridgewater State would claim the top seat with 59 points and five first place votes to edge out the Lancers in the voting. Earning the final four first place votes in second place is Worcester State, who claimed a total of 53 points. The Lancers were 12-9 during last season's MASCAC action. In 2025, Riggs Catlin, a sophomore captain this season, in his first outing with the team, batted .342 with a .412 on-base percentage, 34 runs scored, 34 RBI, six home runs, nine doubles, four triples and 14 walks over his 33 games played.
Finishing third was Westfield State who totaled 50 points with fourth place going to Mass. Maritime at 38 points. In fifth sits Salem State with 37 points, Framingham State follows at 31 points with newcomer Anna Maria in seventh at 29 points. IN the final two spots sits Fitchburg State in eighth with 18 points and MCLA in the final spot with nine points.
While non-conference play begins over the next few weeks, conference competition will get underway the week of March 23.
