Baseball Falls To Fisher At Fraser Field, 11-3

Lowell, MA --- Fisher junior Eridani Dume (Bani, Dominican Republic) and senior Jose Paulino (Lawrence, MA) both finished with three hits and accounted for five runs as they helped lead the Falcons to an 11-3 triumph over Worcester State in non-conference baseball action at Fraser Field.

The Falcons (22-12) were also led by third-year Victor Lebron (Union City, NJ), sophomore Dominic Zaher (Chelmsford, MA) and freshman Yliano Rodriguez (Toa Alto, Puerto Rico) who all finished with two base-knocks in a 15-hit attack.

For the Lancers (12-17), sophomore Zach George (Attleboro, MA) had his seventh multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-3 night at the plate.

Worcester State opened the game with a 3-0 lead with all runs scoring in the top of the third inning.

Junior Dan Ubele (Tyngsboro, MA) and second-year Nicholas Gikas (Danvers, MA) reached on singles before they moved into scoring position on a sacrifice.

Sophomore David Ruggiero (Peabody, MA) then induced an error in the infield that scored both Ubele and Gikas on the play. George capped off the frame by driving in Ruggiero.

But Fisher answered back in a big way as they strung together several base knocks and batted around in the bottom of the third with nine consecutive runs on nine hits.

Dume, who crossed home plate twice, along with Zahler and junior Davidson Peguero (W. Roxbury, MA) all highlighted the inning with RBI triples for the hosts.

The Falcons added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of unearned runs. Paulino scampered home on a miscue at first base before Lebron plated Dume for the 11-3 advantage.

Junior Derek Cole (Billerica, MA), senior Joe Piscitelli (Oxford, MA) and third-year Rob MacDonald (Waltham, MA) combined to keep Fisher off the board over the final three innings.

Senior Chris O'Hare (Lynnfield, MA) was outstanding for the Falcons as he fanned 11 men over his eight frames of work while he scattered five hits and allowed three unearned runs. O'Hare (8-0) also walked three.

Second-year Brett Pettis (Stow, MA) shouldered the loss after he allowed five earned runs in 2 1/3 innings of work on six hits as he also issued one free pass.

Both squads will resume their schedule with twinbills on Saturday at high noon. Worcester State hosts Mass Maritime in a MASCAC match-up at home while Fisher travels by bus to SUNY Canton.
