O’Keefe Receives Co-MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Nod
Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior Meaghan O’Keefe has been tabbed Co-MASCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for helping lead Worcester State to a 2-0 week at the Ed Hockenbury Classic at Norwich.
Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior Meaghan O'Keefe (Warren, MA) has been tabbed Co-MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for helping lead Worcester State to a 2-0 week at the Ed Hockenbury Classic at Norwich.
O'Keefe, who earned MVP accolades for her performance on the weekend, started things off with 10 points and 10 boards in a 60-45 triumph over Maine Fort-Kent in the semifinals before she ended the tournament with contest highs of 25 points, 15 caroms and four blocks in a 62-50 victory over Norwich in the championship.
She tops the MASCAC in rebounds while her average scoring and shooting percentage is third. With eight blocks in six games she is tied for fifth in the conference in average blocks.
O'Keefe shared the MASCAC weekly award with Elisha Homich (Ludlow, MA) as the pair were also recognized on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) honor roll.
The Lancers (3-3) will play two NESCAC opponents in the next week at home starting with Trinity (CT) on Tuesday at 7 PM. They close things out with Wesleyan (CT) at 6 o'clock on Thursday.
