WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman guard, Chris Cardoso (Jamaica Plans, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's basketball rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Monday (Dec. 4) afternoon.
This past week, Cardoso averaged 12.5 points, 5.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and one steal while shooting 44.2% (19-43) from the field and 41.7% (5-12) from 3-point range in a 1-3 week for the Lancers.
"Chris has had some moments where he shows how good he can be," said head coach David Lindberg. "He is learning to be a more consistent player on both ends of the floor."
He netted two points, two rebounds, nine assists, a block and a steal in the 83-80 win over Norwich University. He tallied 16 points, two rebounds, four assists and a steal in the 83-67 setback to No. 20 Skidmore and 14 points, two rebounds, seven assists and a steal in the loss to Wheaton College. At the Ed Hockenbury Tournament alone, he averaged 14.5 points and eight assists per game.
"I am very happy with his progress so far" concluded Lindberg.
